We said this week's meeting would be a pasta party, but it is not something we could throw together in a week given the state of room assignments. Sorry for any disappointment this may cause; we still plan to have a pasta party later this semester. At the meeting tomorrow we will begin with a quick game involving quotations, and then we will have an enlightening presentation from Jey on Transhumanism, which will be followed by a lively discussion!
"I'll be talking a bit about the movement called transhumanism, but we'll also be considering and discussing what desirable futures are from the point of view of the scientifically-grounded non-believer. Each religion prescribes an answer to these questions, but what about those of us who aren't content with a view of the future taken from mythology? What constitutes a desirable future, and how do we get there?"
-Jey Kottalam
This will all be followed by dinner at Racha's on Telegraph and Dwight! We made sure to ask for separate checks in advance (Hooray!).
Tuesday, September 22 2009, begins at 7:00 pm (Please arrive at 6:50) Location : 225 Wheeler
